Week 3 Assignment 2 Health Policy Child and Elder Care - 1100 Words
Week 3 Assignment 2 Health Policy: Child and Elder Care (Research Proposal Sample) Content: Child and Elder CareNameInstitutionChild and Elder CareAs an advanced practice nurse, the issue that requires a potential policy change at the workplace is the issue of child and elder care. The advanced practice nurses today face challenges of caring for both children and adults in the health care centers. Therefore, change policies should be enacted to help in improving the adult children care for the nation.Description of the issueHealthcare in the United States is the most social and economic problem in the United States even though it is the wealthiest nation in the world. Both children and adults in American are currently facing health care issues (Moyer, 2013). Most of the children and adult children are uninsured in the United States that forms a population of approximately 9 million children being affected by the insurance issues. The fact that millions of the children are underinsured and one of eight young people in the United States are insured indicates t hat the nations have issues with child and elder care (Beach et al., 2016). The effects of child and elder care in the United States result from an increase in medical costs, underinsured position and an uninsured number of children. Background of the issueBy 2010, about 49.9 million adult children were uninsured. About 16.3 % of the American population had no health insurance, and a population of 40 million were willing to be insured but could not afford such health services. In 2010, most adult children could afford to get access to proper medical care, dental, and mental health care. It implies that with the absence of proper health insurance services, most young and elder children could not get medical treatment for their illness and preventive health care services (LAITINEN, Niemela Pirhonen, 2016). And it will impact negatively on the development of children in their lifetime.Analysis of Stakeholders1. Federal government and government agenciesThe government should have an interest in solving the issue of child and elder care in the United States. The government should facilitate the administration of health intervention programs to health in getting rid of the child care issues (Chari et al., 2015). The federal government and the government agencies should be responsible for achieving the set goals and objectives of the health care programs. The actions that the government should take to assist in solving the child and elder care involves creating and implementing health care programs.2. Insurance companies and health care organizationsInsurance companies should have an interest in enforcing children care programs. The responsibility of health care organizations should help in performing and implanting child and elder care programs. Such health care organizations should do their best to implement the programs for children care successfully (Gustafson Baofeng, 2014).3. Parent and peopleFor the children care program to be successful, then parent s are required to maintain communication and participation of children in the care program. Both parents and other members of the community should be able to use the facilities that the government has put in place to execute the care programs (Dong et al., 2014). The actions that the parents should take towards the care program should comprise the utility of the enacted care program to help in preventing children from such health care issues (Noddings, 2015).Statement of clarityThe child and elder care problems in the United States result from the increase in insurance and medical costs. Since most children in recent times in the United States are uninsured and underinsured, they face challenges in child and elder care issues (Holden, Schubert Mickelson, 2015). The health care services in America are not affordable to many parents and students hence limiting their access to such care services. Methods of addressing the issuesThe program that the United States government implement to get rid of the child and elder care issues include Medicaid and the SCHIP. The two programs are funded by both the federal and state governments to cover the low-income earners in the nation.Goals for the changesThe main goal of the Medicaid program is to provide about 28 million children health care coverage. The SCHIP also aims at covering about 6 million children from low-income zones. The goals of the two care programs help in the health coverage of all low-income children in the US.Benefits and risks of changesBoth the SCHIP and Medicaid programs help the children to get health insurance hence improving their lives. The risk of the changes is that most children are not enrolled in the two care programs, and parents are also not aware whether their children are eligible for programs.Evaluation MethodologyThe government should evaluate the health coverage programs by increasing the num...
